Maruti Suzuki to raise vehicle prices for the third time

The company’s domestic sales dropped 8.4% on a year-on-year basis in March this year – attributed in part to the 5 price hikes in the past year

Maruti Suzuki has informed the stock exchanges that it intends to raise prices again this month — the third time it will be doing so in this calendar year as it battles a steady surge in input costs.

“The cost of the company’s vehicles continue to be adversely impacted by the increase in various input costs. Therefore, it has become imperative for the company to pass on some impact of the above additional costs to customers through a price hike.

“We have planned this price rise in April. The increase shall vary for different models,” the car maker said in an advance intimation of its price increase.

MSI has raised prices by around 8.8 per cent from January 2021 to March 2022.

Eeco recall

Maruti Suzuki is recalling 19,731 units of its Eeco van to rectify incorrect marking of wheel rim size.

In a routine inspection, the car maker found that in some units of Eeco, manufactured between July 19, 2021 and October 5, 2021, the wheel rim size was incorrectly marked.
