Maruti Suzuki India is not giving up on the entry-level hatch segment yet unlike its immediate rival Hyundai and other original equipment manufacturers.
The company has brought back the Alto K10 that it discontinued in December 2019. The new model will retail at Rs 3.99 lakh onwards at an introductory price.
While the Society for Indian Automobile Manufacturers in its July report observed that the entry-level hatch along with two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments are yet to recover from the pandemic-induced slump, Maruti has reinforced its presence with the re-introduction of the Alto K10, despite seeing a dip in volumes compared to last year.
“There has been a 2 per cent dip in volume in the entry-level hatch. Last year this segment comprised 18 per cent of our sales. Earlier it was 20 per cent,” said Shashank Srivastava, executive director, sales and marketing, MSIL.
