Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 165,173 vehicles in August, of which 137,537 units were domestic sales, 6,155 units were sales to other equipment manufacturers (OEM) namely Toyota and 21,481 units were exported.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 134,166 units compared with 103,187 units in August 2021, a growth of 30 per cent.
Cumulative sales from April to August, FY 2022- 23 stood at 646,170 units for its passenger vehicles compared with 529,981 units in the same period of FY2021-22.
Maruti sold 93,719 units in the mini and compact segments compared with 26,932 units in the SUV segment.
In the mini segment, the company sells the Alto and the S-Presso which sold 2,21,62 units, while in the compact segment where it sells the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and Wagon R, it sold 71,557 units.
Among utility vehicles, it sells the Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, XL-6. In the van segment it has the Eeco which sold 11,999 units.
The Ciaz sedan sold 1,516 units.
Tata Motors, which has overtaken Hyundai, sold a total of 78,843 units, including domestic and exports, against 57,995 units in August 2021 — a growth of 36 per cent.
Domestic sales stood at 76,479 units compared with 54,190 units in the same month last year — a growth of 40 per cent. Nexon and Punch sales were the highest ever at 15,085 units and 12,006 units, respectively.
Tata Motors commercial vehicles posted a growth of 6 per cent having sold 31,492 units. Passenger vehicle sales grew 68 per cent to 47,166 units compared with 28,018 units last year.
Hyundai registered sales of 49,510 units in domestic business, and exported 12,700 units in August.
Its cumulative sales stood at 62,210 units. Mahindra sold 29,852 vehicles of which 29,516 were from SUVs. Commercial vehicle sales stood at 21492 units.
