Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja group, showcased its range of BS-VI vehicles at a technical centre at Vellivoyal Chavadi in Chennai on Monday.
Group chairman Dheeraj G. Hinduja said, “Ashok Leyland has a rich legacy of technological innovations that has set the benchmark for the industry.
“In line with our dream of being among the top 10 global commercial vehicle makers, we have yet again come up with an innovative technology to address the BSVI norms. We are the first OEMs to get a BSVI certification for our complete range of heavy duty trucks.”
The company is feeling the pinch of the economic downturn with a 50 per cent slowdown in October sales in the medium and heavy commercial vehicles segment compared with October 2018.
Truck sales are down 59 per cent and sale of light commercial vehicles fell 15 per cent. The company had 15 non-working days in October and has declared 12 non-working days in November in its various production facilities to manage rising inventories.
