As “human needs are unlimited”, the inherent urge and passion for “ye dil mangey more” (penchant for more and more as well as chasing the mirage of something new) is obvious.

Accordingly, both skilled and highly-skilled candidates opt for migrating from one green pasture to the greener ones (jobs), and it has been a common phenomenon.

Nevertheless, surveys have found out that most of the fence-sitters (job-switchers) regret and repent after assuming the new assignments. Frustration crops up owing to the comparison between the past and the present. It also ignites and agitates the erstwhile beaming brains.

Thus, the malady of job-dissatisfaction and repentance start marauding the head and heart.

It has been very often found out by the surveyors that most of the job-switchers suo motu fall prey to the strong sense of regret even though seek to desist from the pinch and pangs of regret after assuming the new assignments.

Certain surveys conducted in the near past have revealed that a majority of job-switchers later disclosed that they would have stuck to their previous jobs as the experience at their respective new workplaces reportedly rendered them a strong sense of discontentment.

Hence, experts opine to adopt and ponder over certain points before taking up a job although ups and downs as well as several challenges are a must. After all, there is “no gain without pain” in every walk of life.

The pertinent points to ponder over before taking up an offered job are:

1) Taking appropriate decisions keeping career goals in view

2) Being bias-free

3) Expectations shouldn’t be unrealistic

4) Interacting with the employees already employed in the organization one is desirous to join. One should try to interact with various employees and accept the inputs from those who are open and without any vested interests or else they may misguide.

Notwithstanding that, trouble may trouble us despite our career-oriented roadmap and mental jogging before joining the new assignment. Let’s remember – “No risk no gain”. Also remember – “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.”

It’s better to make sure – “A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.”

Nevertheless, we have to make a rational decision before blindly jumping into the bandwagon of lucrative job offers.

As we learn from experience, such sweet and sour situations act like acid test in a bid to pave our path to a lustrous career consequently.
