JioMart, Mukesh Ambani’s ambitious venture in online grocery shopping, has gone live now in more than 200 towns in the country as it quickly ramps up its presence to take on the might of players such as Amazon Fresh, Amazon Pantry, Flipkart’s Supermart, BigBasket and Grofers.
Damodar Mall, the CEO of Reliance Retail’s grocery retail business, tweeted website jiomart.com has gone live across 200 towns big and small in the country. “Never waste a crisis, they say,” Mall said in the tweet, while he quoted a colleague who mentioned that “Alibaba also flourished starting from the SARS crisis’’.
He added that some of the cities where the service is now available include Darjeeling, Nokha in Rajasthan, Bodhan in Telangana, Nagarcoil in Tamil Nadu and Tadepalligudam in Andhra Pradesh.
