IndiGo orders 10 additional A320 Neo family aircraft from European manufacturer Airbus

The announcement comes over two months after the airline placed a firm order to buy 500 narrow-body planes

InterGlobe Aviation, the IndiGo parent, on Monday said it has placed an order for an additional 10 A320neo family aircraft with European manufacturer Airbus.

With this, the revised order placed by the budget carrier for A320 neo family planes has risen to 310. It had sought 300 aircraft in 2019

The planes are scheduled to be delivered by 2030. As of June 30, 2023, the airline had a fleet of 316 aircraft, including 166 A320neos.

In a regulatory filing, InterGlobe Aviation said its board of directors, at their meeting held on Monday “approved placing the order for 10 additional A320 Neo aircraft with Airbus and execute the amendment agreement to the purchase agreement”.

The announcement comes over two months after the airline placed a firm order to buy 500 narrow-body planes from Airbus.

In a separate announcement, IndiGo disclosed that it is setting up a subsidiary with an investment of up to Rs 30 crore for financing aviation assets. The wholly-owned subsidiary will be established in GIFT City.

The company’s board on Monday approved the proposal.
