Hindalco teams up with Aequs

Duo to make extrusions for commercial aerospace OEMs and other Aequs customers

Hindalco Industries has joined hands with Aequs, the Belgavi, Karnataka, based contract manufacturer, for collaboration in the commercial aerospace sector.

The duo will make extrusions for commercial aerospace OEMs and other Aequs customers.

Extrusions are an important component in aerospace. Hindalco is a leading player in this industry in India and it operates three extrusion plants at Renukoot in Uttar Pradesh, Alupuram, Kerala and Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh.

It specialises in a wide range of alloys, including hard alloys and special alloys for the aerospace sectors. A press statement from Aequs said that the partnership will leverage the capabilities, market presence, and industry knowledge of the respective parties.

"This strategic alliance marks a breakthrough for the Indian aerospace sector by further integrating the entire value chain to deliver 100 per cent in-country value add. It creates strategic value for our customers by enhancing manufacturing sustainability and reliability in the country,” Aravind Melligeri, chairman & CEO, Aequs said.

In a separate statement, Hindalco said that it has signed an MoU with Phinergy, a leading Israel-based pioneer in metal-air battery technology, and IOC Phinergy Pvt Ltd (IOP) — a joint venture between Phinergy and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC)
