HDFC Bank has laid out a plan to expand in Bengal by taking its branch network to 300 by 2022-23.
The bank is also looking to add more ATMs and scale up retail lending through expos and fairs. “HDFC Bank has 257 branches in Bengal as on date and the bank plans to open another 43 branches in Bengal in FY2023,” Sandeep Kumar, executive vice-president, branch banking head — east, HDFC Bank, told The Telegraph.
Out of these 43 new branches, 13 will be in Calcutta district, 11 will be in North and South 24 Parganas, and the rest will be in other districts of the state as the bank looks to expand its reach.
The bank will also set up 43 new ATMs in Bengal during 2022-23. At present, the bank has around 650 ATMs across the state.
Auto expo
Kumar said HDFC Bank is organising the second edition of the Auto Expo in the city which will start on Saturday, April 23.
“This is a one-of-a-kind initiative where the bank will collaborate with different auto makers to offer customers a hassle-free car purchase experience,” he said.
“The two-day event will happen in South City Mall. We are expecting a record footfall of over 2,25,000 during the two-day event.”
“Around 18-20 car and two-wheeler brands will showcase their products at the event,” he said.
HDFC Bank’s total business in Bengal was more than Rs 93,000 crore as on December 31, 2021 compared with more than Rs 79,000 crore as on December 31, 2020.
