Gautam Adani, the billionaire industrialist, on Wednesday pledged to invest $10 billion in energy and infrastructure projects in the US. This comes after Donald Trump won the US presidential elections last week.

“Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump,” Adani posted on X, congratulating the incoming US president who will be sworn in on January 20, 2025.

“As the partnership between India and the United States deepens, the Adani Group is committed to leveraging its global expertise and invest $10 billion in US energy security and resilient infrastructure projects, aiming to create up to 15,000 jobs,’’ Adani said.

He did not offer details of the proposed projects or the time period as to when they would come up.

The process could begin after the new administration assumes office.

This is the second post by Adani on Trump after he beat Kamala Harris. "If there is one person on Earth who stands as the embodiment of unbreakable tenacity, unshakeable grit, relentless determination and the courage to stay true to his beliefs, it is Donald Trump.”

“Fascinating to see America’s democracy empower its people and uphold the nation’s founding principles. Congratulations to the 47th POTUS-elect,’’ he had said on November 6 in a post on X.

The Adani group is pursuing various international projects in areas such as ports and green energy.

A recent Reuters report said the conglomerate is planning to build hydroelectric projects in nations such as Nepal, Tanzania, the Philippines, Vietnam, Bhutan and Kenya.

In June, the group had signed an agreement with the Bhutan government to build a 570mw hydro electric plant in the country. In ports it had acquired the strategic Israeli port of Haifa for $1.2 billion last year.

It has also a wind power project in Sri Lanka and solar project in Australia apart from a power purchase agreement with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for the supply 1,496mw of power.
