With passengers facing long waiting hours at Delhi and other airports, airlines have asked them to reach early, do a web check-in and carry only one piece of hand baggage for faster movement.

To deal with the situation, authorities have put in place an action plan, including reducing the number of flights during peak hours.

The civil aviation ministry has asked the airlines to deploy adequate manpower at all check-in and baggage drop counters.

Airlines have been requested to place real-time data on their social media feeds regarding waiting time at airport entry gates.

Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also inspected the arrangements at the airport here on Monday.

IndiGo has asked passengers to reach Delhi airport at least 3.5 hours before domestic departures.

Vistara is asking its passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before domestic and international flights.

“Passengers are requested to reach the airport at least 3.5 hours before domestic departures and to carry only one piece of hand baggage weighing 7 kg for a smooth security check. Please ensure that you complete your web check-in,” IndiGo said.

SpiceJet has asked passengers to complete web check-in, reach early and carry no more than one hand baggage of up to 7 kilograms.
