The Centre on Monday sought Parliament’s approval for net additional spending of over Rs 1.07 lakh crore, including about Rs 15,000 crore towards fertiliser subsidy.

Under the third supplementary demand for grants for the fiscal tabled in the Lok Sabha, the government sought approval for gross additional expenditure of over Rs 1.58 lakh crore.

Savings by ministries and enhanced receipts total over Rs 50,946 crore, leaving the net demand at Rs 1.07 lakh crore.

The government has sought Rs 14,902 crore for fertiliser subsidy and Rs 13,049 crore for capital infusion in National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development. This includes Rs 5,000 crore as grant-in-aid.

In addition, the government sought Rs 5,000 crore for the recapitalisation of public sector general insurance companies, according to the document.

Support was sought for the recapitalisation of Regional Rural Banks.

A sum of Rs 8,141 crore is required for additional transfer to GST Compensation Fund and Rs 7,132 crore for expenditure towards pensions and other retirement benefits.

In the Rajya Sabha, minister of state for finance Pankaj Chaudhary tabled the supplementary demands for grants.

The minister also presented the 2022-23 budget for Jammu & Kashmir. The budgeted expenditure for the Union Territory is Rs 39.45 lakh crore for the next fiscal.
