From interference free drones and counter drone grids to moisture proof storage of ammunition in the frontlines, there is scope for a wider collaboration between domestic defence industry and the armed forces.
Addressing East Tech Symposium 2024, jointly organised by Eastern Command (Indian Army), the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers and the CII, Lieutenant-General R.C. Tiwari, the current general officer commanding-in-chief of Eastern Command, stressed on the need to be cognizant of emerging threats and challenges and the imperative of self reliance in defence production.
“We look towards the defence industry to provide us with the required battlefield equalisers,” he said.
“The future battlefield will see developments in, but not limited to, the domination of unmanned autonomous platforms, including numerous variety of drones, increased robotisation, hybrid human-machine teaming,” he added
Bengal’s minister in charge for power Aroop Biswas said the state aims to contribute to the advancement of nation’s defence capability by harnessing its strategic location and talented workforce.
