The Indian Embassy in Switzerland recently hosted the ‘India Business Week 2022’ at Hyatt Convention Centre, Zurich. Jute Revivalist and Social Entrepreneur, Chaitali Das took the centre stage at the meeting with the members of the World Economic Forum and the Indian business delegation to share her thoughts on India’s stand on gender parity. She shed light on the fact that 20% of Indian women are already in the work force with a majority working from home as Home-preneurs with flexible working hours, and the rest gearing up to join. Ms Das further emphasised sustainability, the use of Indian jute, khadi, and cotton, eco-friendly fashion and lifestyle and conserving the environment and heritage.

Sushmita Das Biswas, Jt. Director from the Indian Chamber of Commerce also spoke at the same event about the contribution of SMEs and MSMEs to the Indian Economy. She proposed to the nodal office to execute the collaboration and bilateral business partnership between Indian and Swiss companies. Kaushal Kumar from Indian Embassy in Switzerland was responsible for the coordination. Harsh Sangla, the co-Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) highlighted bilateral business relations, collaboration and mutual growth.

The Indian delegation facilitated by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and the Confederation of Indian Industries was also invited to the University of Applied Science and Arts, North Western Business School of Switzerland where Chaitali has advocated following an eco-friendly lifestyle and the use of jute to replace hazardous plastic. She further urged collaboration to fight collectively and effectively evolve as a superpower against common challenges posed to the people and the planet by the climate threat. She also urged the attendees to take action to ensure food security, and health security for the present and future generations ahead.

The 30 members of the Indian delegation team representing respective industries and sectors were invited to EPFL Innovation Park, and the innovation ecosystem of Western Switzerland, Lausanne where Ms Das proposed a technology collaboration both in Textile and Agriculture. Here the Indian delegation team learnt about the Innovation park which creates synergies that strengthen the innovation culture in Switzerland. The Indian delegation team later joined the luncheon hosted by the Ambassador of India at India House, Embassy in Switzerland after visiting the Palais des Nation, United Nation HQ in Geneva.
