The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) on Thursday said women bank account holders under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) will start getting an amount of Rs 500 per month from Friday.
This follows the announcement made by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman last week. The remittance is the first of the three monthly payments under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana announced last week as part of which the money will be deposited into the accounts of women Jan Dhan Yojana beneficiaries by all banks.
The IBA said to maintain social distancing and ensure orderly withdrawal of money by the beneficiaries, it has designed a schedule to be followed by all banks for the month of April.
For instance, account holders having 0 and 1 as the last digits in their account numbers will get the money on April 3. Account numbers ending with 2 or 3 can approach the bank on April 4.
