Car makers are gearing up for high-octane launches ahead of the festival season as the industry eyes a rebound from the weak September sales.
Starting from October, Kia will launch its new Carnival in two trims, the Limousine and Limousine Plus.
The Kia Carnival is the Korean carmaker’s premium MPV with seven seats as standard.
It will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The bookings have already opened in India for a token amount of ₹2 lakh.
Along with the Carnival, Kia will launch the new electric SUV, the EV9, a six-seater with a 99.8kWh battery and dual electric motors with a range of 561 km on a single charge. It is expected to be Kia’s most expensive car yet in India priced above ₹1 crore.
Another EV in the pipeline in October is BYD’s eMax7, the latest reiteration of its M6 eMPV.
It will have both six and seven-seat options. BYD is currently the second largest EV player globally with Tesla leading the pack. It has the Atto3 and the BYD Seal in its portfolio.
In the global market, the eMax 7 has two battery options — 55.4kWh and 71.8kWh. The former offers a range of 420km, while the latter offers 530km.
BMW Motorrad’s electric scooter is the most anticipated launch in the luxury sphere.
The CE 02 scooter is expected to be in the affordable range. It gets a 3.92 kWh battery, which offers a claimed range of 108 km.
The BMW CE 02 weighs in at 142 kg and has a seat height of 745 mm. Additionally, it can do 0-50 kmph in three seconds and has a top speed of 95 kmph.
Mercedes-Benz’s bread and butter car, the new generation long-wheel base E-Class, will launch on October 9. It has two engine options: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine.
The upcoming E-Class will be available in two variants, the E 200 and E 220d. The pre-orders for the model are already open, while deliveries are expected soon after the launch.
