The company plans to hire 250 product engineers from the city this year and will further expand to 1000 by 2025. Storage, networking, virtualisation, cloud and emerging technologies are some of the areas where the export-oriented company operates.

The company, which was established in 1998, is present in two locations in India — Pune and Bangalore. Following the expansion in Calcutta, the company plans to move to Indore in a couple of months. It also has a presence in San Jose, California.

“When planning our expansion, we looked at multiple cities and realised that Calcutta has a very good talent pool. We also have a lot of senior people from Calcutta and we have engineers from the city. Some of our employees wanted to come back and the IT industry at this stage looks very promising,” said Anupam Bhide, CEO of Calsoft.

“Our temporary office is already operational. The full office in the city will probably take 3-4 months. We initially expected to have only 100 people on the rolls, but we have got a good response,” he said.

He added that the company anticipates around 30-40 percent growth in business over the next few years and there are opportunities in emerging spaces such as AI/ML and IoT.

“In 2022, we foray into advanced levels of digital product engineering in AI/ML, cybersecurity and data analytics domains. With the new development centre in Calcutta, Calsoft aims to onboard expert product engineers and data scientists.

“The city’s cultural identity unlocks multiple advantages, from industrial proximity to international contributions and well-rooted academia,” said Bhide.
