Bhushan boost to Tata output

Tata Steel on Saturday said its output rose 23 per cent to 7.70 million tonnes (MT) during the last quarter of 2018-19. The company had produced 6.26 million tonnes of steel during the same quarter a year ago, Tata Steel said in a statement.

The company’s India production stood at 4.47 million tonnes during the January-March 2019 quarter against 3.07 million tonnes in the year-ago period.

“India operations achieved the highest ever crude steel production in the fourth quarter of 2018-19, driven by better plant availability across locations, including a ramp-up at Tata Steel BSL,” it said.

Tata Steel Europe produced 2.73 million tonnes of steel compared with 2.63 million tonnes in the fourth quarter of 2017-18.

Tata Steel South East Asia recorded a production of 0.50 million tonnes against 0.56 million tonnes.

Tata Steel Group is among the top global steel companies with an annual crude steel capacity of 33 million tonnes per annum.
