Bajaj Auto is entering the electric three-wheeler segment with its first product during the festive season this year.
The company is also set to launch high-speed e-scooters, one new model every year, according to Eric Vas, president, Urbanite, Bajaj Auto Ltd. He was speaking at the Chetak Experience Centre in Chowringhee on Tuesday.
Bajaj, which quit the internal combustion engine scooter market years back, used its Chetak brand to make an entry into the electric scooter market in 2019.
Launching the e-Chetak in 2020, the company saw little sales due to the pandemic. Since 2020 till date it has sold 50,000 units of the electric Chetak.
The company has now stopped retails of the electric Chetak after the central government's announcement on the revised FAME II guidelines.
