Axis Bank invests Rs 300 crore in NCDs issued by power company CESC

The third-largest private sector lender has subscribed to unlisted, secured NCDs issued by CESC, according to the statement

Private sector lender Axis Bank has invested Rs 300 crore in non-convertible debentures (NCDs) issued by power company CESC, its legal advisers JSA said in a statement on Thursday.

The third-largest private sector lender has subscribed to unlisted, secured NCDs issued by CESC, according to the statement.

CESC, a part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, is engaged in the business of generating and supplying electricity in Calcutta, Howrah and adjoining areas.

The CESC scrip closed 0.19 per cent up at Rs 88.59 apiece on the BSE on Thursday.

Meanwhile the Reserve Bank of India on Thursday said that as many as 30 banks have been onboarded on the UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access information) portal to enable people to claim and search unclaimed deposits.

The 30 banks include all major public sector lenders such as SBI, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, Canara Bank and Bank of India, and foreign banks such as Citibank, Standard Chartered and HSBC.

The list of private sector lenders includes HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank.
