Flexible workspace solution provider Awfis plans to expand its inventory in Calcutta to a total of around 4.5 lakh square feet over the next 6 months with large companies moving away from capital expenditure in real estate.
Awfis has leased over 1 lakh square feet of workspace in Calcutta to 3 large corporates in the last 6 months.
Grant Thornton has taken customised set up in Awfis’s Eco Centre at Acropolis Mall.
Teleperformance, a global digital integrated business service provider, and Conneqt, an IT and BPM service provider, have taken over 1,000 plus seats at Godrej Waterside and the Technopolis centres, respectively.
Awfis forayed into Calcutta in 2017 with one centre and now has nine centres.
“We have expanded to around 3 lakh sqft in five years and in the next six months we will add around 1.5 lakhs,” said Sumit Lakhani, deputy CEO of Awfis.
Across India, the company has 131 centres in 14 cities with 7,7500 seats, and over the next 12 months, the company plans to have 200 centres in 18 cities with 1 lakh plus seats.
“The trend of using flexible spaces in commercial real estate portfolio of large organisations is witnessing unprecedented growth and will become more prominent in the coming future,” Lakhani said.
“The flex space takeup from large corporates in Calcutta clearly reflects the surge in demand that we see pan -India across all metros and tier 2 markets as well,” said Lakhani.
