Automobile sales remained flat in June compared with a year ago. Sales last month stood at 3.47 lakh units against 3.35 lakh units in June 2023, an increase of just 12,674 units.
Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 1,79,228 units, including 1,39,918 units in the domestic segment, sales to other OEM of 8,277 units and exports of 31,033 units.
In the April-to-June period of 2024, Maruti sold 4,51,308 units in the domestic market compared with 4,34,812 units in the corresponding period of 2023. Maruti’s first-quarter exports stood at 70,560 units, which is the highest Q1 exports.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) registered total sales of 64,803 units (domestic 50,103 and exports 14,700) in June. HMIL also completed the first half of 2024 with a total sales of 3,85,772 units, achieving a growth of 5.68 per cent y-o-y.
Tata Motors’ sales in the domestic and international market for Q1 FY 2024-25 stood at 229,891 vehicles compared with 226,245 units in the first quarter of 2023-24.
Total passenger vehicle sales for Tata Motors was 1,38,682, a contraction of 1.1 per cent y-o-y. Total commercial vehicle sales for the same period stood at 91,209, posting a growth of 6 per cent YoY.
The company’s domestic sales in June stood at 74,147 units — a contraction of 8 per cent compared with 80,383 units a year ago. Commercial vehicles sales declined 7 per cent at 31,980 compared with 34,314 units in June 2023.
Mahindra & Mahindra said auto sales in June stood at 69,397 vehicles, a growth of 11 per cent, including exports.
In the utility vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 40,022 vehicles in the domestic market, a growth of 23 per cent and overall, 40,644 vehicles, including exports.
The domestic sales for commercial vehicles stood at 20,594 units.
