Auto retail sales in May rose 10 per cent year on year (YoY), according to vehicle retail data released on Monday by the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Association (Fada).
There have been positive performances across all vehicle categories, including two-wheeler, three-wheeler, passenger vehicles, tractor and commercial vehicles with respective growth rates of 9 per cent, 79 per cent, 4 per cent, 10 per cent, and 7 per cent.
May showcased an increased penetration of EVs, accounting for an 8 per cent of total sales, with two-wheelers contributing 7 per cent, three-wheelers contributing 56 per cent, CV contributing 0.5 per cent and PV contributing 2.5 per cent, respectively.
Two-wheeler sales were positively influenced by the marriage season and the anticipated changes in FAME subsidies, set to be effective from June, which drove higher sales of 2W EVs.
