Bharti Airtel has joined hands with US-based Verizon to launch a video conferencing solution, which will rival popular Zoom, Cisco Webex, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. The announcement comes within days of the launch of the JioMeet application, which is a free to use service from Reliance Jio.
Announcing the launch of “Airtel BlueJeans” on Tuesday, Bharti Airtel’s managing director and CEO Gopal Vittal said the services, which will be initially targeted at enterprise customers, will be offered free for three months.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Verizon to bring Airtel BlueJeans to enterprise and small and medium business customers in India..We look forward to building a deep partnership with Verizon to serve the needs of emerging digital India,” Vittal said.
Customers need to register on the Airtel site by submitting their details, and the trial will be activated within 24 hours of registration, the operator said. A customer can get a BlueJeans subscription directly from Verizon as well without going through Airtel, but the plan will not have a few features that Airtel is bundling with its offer.
After the initial free trial period, Airtel promises to offer “competitive” pricing but did not offer any details.
“The pricing will be segmented at three levels — for large and medium enterprises and for really tiny companies, which will be bundled with existing broadband and internet plans,” Vittal said.
