Airtel on Wednesday said it has blocked 154 million spam calls and 8 million spam messages in Bengal in the last 28 days. Amid rising spam and fraudulent calls and messages, Airtel said it has built a capability of processing 1.5 billion messages and 2.5 billion calls in two milliseconds, using an in house developed AI algorithm.
Users of Airtel will be able to see “Suspected Spam” when receiving calls and messages from the identified numbers.
The network analyses various parameters such as the caller or sender’s use pattern, call/SMS frequency and call duration among several other parameters on a real time basis.
Besides alerting customers to malicious links received via SMS, the solution can determine anomalies such as frequent IMIE changes — an indicator of fraudulent behaviour.
“Airtel is enhancing the security of its 24 million customers in Bengal, helping to create a safer communication experience for all,” said Ayan Sarkar, CEO, West Bengal and Orissa, Bharti Airtel.
