Adani Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, is acquiring ICD Tumb at Vapi in Gujarat — one of the largest inland container depots (ICD) in India — from Navkar Corporation for Rs 835 crore.
Adani Logistics said in a statement that the deal comprises the acquisition of the operational depot with a capacity to handle 0.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit).
The container depot has 129 acres of land that offers an expansion opportunity as additional industrial corridors and logistic parks get added along these DFC (Dedicated Freight Corridor) routes.
The company pointed out that the acquisition is in line with its strategy to build integrated transport utility and pan-India logistics infrastructure facilities. Tumb adds to its existing seven multi-modal logistics parks in the country.
According to Adani Logistics, ICD Tumb has a private freight terminal with four rail handling lines connected with the Western dedicated freight corridor. It also possesses custom notified land and bonded warehouse facilities.
Tumb serves both the Hazira port and the Nhava Sheva port along the Western DFC surrounded by industrial units of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
