Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Wednesday slammed Nitish Kumar over the district administration’s attempt to evict him from his official bungalow, and for what the leader of Opposition called the chief minister’s attempts to meddle in the Patna University students’ union poll.
When Tejashwi landed in Patna from Delhi, he was asked about the eviction push.
“The matter is pending before Patna High Court as I have appealed to a double bench and the hearing is on December 10,” he said. “The chief minister of Bihar is Nitish Kumar and he can do anything. The way he installed the CCTV camera aimed at my residence and the way he switches sides in seconds, he can do anything. If he can give protection to criminals, he can do anything. In reality my chacha (uncle) is scared of a bachcha (child, a reference to himself) due to the downfall of his government and image.”
He asked how Nitish is occupying two bungalows himself.
“The 1 Aney Marg bungalow is allotted to him as CM and the second bungalow, 7 Circular Road, is allotted him as former CM. I am asking in which capacity he is occupying two bungalows because the rule says that only one bungalow would be allotted, either as CM or former CM, but he is occupying both. He has one bungalow in Delhi as well. I really do not know what’s happening. This would be probably first time in the history of Indian politics that a leader of Opposition, who is equivalent to a minister, is being thrown out from his house,” Tejashwi said.
He cited several leaders of the ruling parties occupying ministerial bungalows.
Poll barb
Tejashwi accused Nitish of meddling in the varsity poll.
“If the JDU is so interested in the PU election, then chief minister Nitish Kumar should have contested the poll. He is now involved in petty things, which is really insulting,” Tejashwi said. “The PU election is completely for the students and my father also started his political career as a student leader. I want the youth of Bihar to take part in decision making and policy making. But I fail to understand why Nitishji is taking so much interest in the PU election. It is very unfortunate that state politics is involved in the varsity election.”
After the video of JDU leader Prashant Kishor meeting the vice-chancellor two days before the poll went viral, even JDU ally BJP demanded Kishor’s arrest.
