morning after he was delayed due to the cabinet meeting and other work.

The chief minister has fallen ill thrice in the last four months and had visited AIIMS Delhi on September 18 for a battery of tests.

“Nitish came around 8:30 in the morning to get computerised tomography (CT) scan done for his chest. He stayed for around one hour during which a team of doctors and other technical staff completed the test,” a senior doctor at AIIMS Patna said on Wednesday. Another doctor at AIIMS Patna said Nitish is suffering from breathing-related problems and is currently under treatment of AIIMS Delhi.

“The report of the chest CT scan will be made available to Nitish and it will be compared with the previous report of AIIMS Delhi,” the doctor said.

He, however, refused to reply when asked if the chief minister had any cardiac ailments too.

Nitish, 67, is a vegetarian who leads a simple life. However, he has suffered back to back health related problems recently: severe pain in his wrist in mid-June, followed by viral fever in July. The latest affliction was the third time that he was down in as many months.

He had caught viral fever on August 31 after returning from Chennai, where he had gone to attend the memorial function of former DMK chief M. Karunanidhi and was ill for almost nine days.

Sources have said that Nitish is susceptible to viral fever, especially during the change of seasons. However, he has always downplayed his illnesses saying that catching fever once or twice a year was good for health as it detoxifies the body. Though people

have always wanted to know about the chief minister’s health, his officials have remained tight-lipped.

There has been no official communication regarding his illnesses or health conditions so far, which has led to demands by Opposition leaders to reveal the actual status of the chief minister’s health condition.
