Patna: St Michael's High School, Patna, hosted the Bihar Jesuit Schools Meet, 2017, on Friday to bring together 200 Jesuit students of eight schools from all parts of Bihar to promote the rich cultural heritage of the state.

The theme of the event was "My Bihar My Pride". The schools that participated were St Ignatius High School, Aurangabad, Khrist Raja High School, Bettiah, St Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Bettiah, St Xavier's High School, Patna, Raj Rajeshwar High School, Barbigha, Pavitra Hriday High School, Latonah, Holy Family School, Chenari, and the host school St Michael's High School, Patna.

The occasion started with an inaugural march by the schools. The opening ceremony started with the welcoming of the chief guest, The Provincial, Fr. Jose Vodasery, S.J., other distinguished guests Fr Norbert Menezes, S.J.

A welcome address was given by the principal, Fr. Edison Armstrong. He welcomed the chief guest and all the participant schools with their teams and coordinators. The students presented a mesmerising prayer dance.

The first event was the singing competition which stressed on folk songs. St Xavier's High School, Patna, school stood first, St Ignatius, Aurangabad stood second and St Xavier's, Bettiah, stood third. Consolation prizes were given to St Michael's High School and Raj Rajeshwar School, Barbigha. The next event was a skit on the theme, "My Bihar, My Pride" depicting historical events, personalities and freedom fighters from Bihar.

The first prize was bagged by St Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Bettiah.

There was also a short programme on a socio political and cultural analysis of Bihar. They presented a nukkad natak to show the condition of Dalits.

The students were taken for a Patna Darshan by the host school. They visited places of historical importance like Golghar and Sri Krishna Science Centre. The host school also arranged for group games. The day ended with a musical show by the host school's orchestra followed by a dinner.
