Brajesh Thakur, key accused in the Muzzaffarpur shelter home rapes case, on Wednesday night accused the CBI of “torturing” his family and relatives but sealed his lips when was asked whether chief minister Nitish Kumar had got him arrested.

Brajesh spoke to reporters on the platform of Naugachhia railway station, around 239km east of Patna, before boarding the Katihar-Amritsar Express to be taken to a jail in Patiala, Punjab, on the orders of the Supreme Court. He claimed he is innocent and is the victim of a conspiracy but did not mention any individual.

“The CBI is torturing me, my family members and my other relatives and friends. All the bank accounts have been frozen and the CBI men are behaving inhumanly with my family members,” he alleged when was asked about the recent complaint made by his daughter in Bhagalpur. Brajesh’s daughter, who came here to meet her father at the special camp jail at Bhagalpur recently, had also alleged that the CBI had falsely implicated her father and had started torturing the family members.

In reply to another question, Brajesh claimed he was innocent. “All the girls at the shelter home were like my daughters, but I have been trapped wrongly,” he claimed.

Asked whether he was the victim of political rivalry and if Nitish was instrumental in his arrest, Brajesh did not answer. After a while he tried to reply but the police personnel escorting him pulled him into the waiting room at the station.

Earlier, traffic virtually come to a standstill on the road from Bhagalpur to Naugachhia via the Vikramshila Ganga bridge because of the police convoy that took Brajesh to the station from the special camp jail around 8pm on Wednesday.

Brajesh was inside a jail van. He along with the police team boarded the train at Naugachhia around 12.12am on Thursday.
