RJD leader in court

Patna, Dec. 2: RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today appeared before a single judge bench of Patna High Court Justice K.K. Mandal in a case related to election affidavits.

Raghuvansh had alleged that LJP leader Rama Kishore Singh had hidden his criminal record in the affidavit filed for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The LJP leader had defeated his nearest rival, Raghuvansh, by a lakh votes in the 2014 general election. Raghuvansh's submission remained incomplete on Friday and he will next appear before the court on December 15.

Firing cases

Patna: The state on Friday presented in both Houses of the state legislature action taken reports on the judicial commission inquiry into police firings at Bagaha in West Champaran and Lalganj in Vaishali districts. While the police firing at Bagaha took place on June 24, 2013, the police had opened fire at Lalganj in Vaishali on November 18, 2015.

Conference

Patna: Social activist Medha Patkar on Friday asked people to unite to save constitutional values in the country. She was speaking here at the 11th national conference of National Alliance of People's Movement. The conference started on Friday and will culminate on December 4.

Minorities

Patna: All India Tanzeem-e-Insaaf will be holding its second national conference here from December 4-6. Around 300 representatives from different states will take part in the conference, which will discuss rights of minorities in the present context.

Notice to govt

Patna: A high court division bench on Friday gave four weeks to the central and state governments to file a reply in a case related to upgrade of Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Kadamkuan, on the lines of AIIMS.

The order was passed on a PIL filed by Dr Rameshwar Singh.

Darbhanga: The state election commission on Friday finalised the reservation category for candidates in the ensuing elections for all 48 wards of Darbhanga Nagar Nigam. According to the final list sent to the district magistrate, 23 seats have been reserved for women.

Armed attack

Hajipur: A senior bank official, Shatrughna Mahto, suffered bullet injuries when bike-borne criminals opened fire at him in Medniganj under the jurisdiction of Hajipur Town police station in Vaishali district on Friday. Mahto was rushed to Hajipur sadar hospital.
