The summer heat can be unbearable at times, especially with the temperature rising as high as 41 degrees or more in West Bengal. Luckily, for Kolkata, we have been getting some cooler weather due to rains. And yes, we wish that continues. But don’t worry, the constant change in weather is not going to put a break on the cocktails and mocktails that some hot spots in the city are serving up.
Here’s a list of recipes that will help you enjoy your tipple during such moody weather.
Tender Coconut Mojito by Capella
Ingredients
- Tender coconut water (90ml)
- Coconut syrup (10ml)
- Lemongrass syrup (10ml)
- Lime juice (15ml)
- Lime chunks (half lemon)
- Chopped lemongrass (15 gm)
- Mint leaves (10gm)
- Litchi juice (60ml)
- Soda (for top off)
Method
1. Crack open the top of the tender coconut and pour the coconut water into a bowl
2. In the glass, add some lemongrass with the lime chunks
3. Slap a handful of mint leaves and add it to the mix
4. Muddle these ingredients for some time till the flavours pop out
5. Add the tender coconut water, coconut syrup, lime juice and litchi juice to the glass. If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can add some sugar syrup at this stage
6. Stir the mixture well to combine all the ingredients.
7. Then top off the glass with your soda till the glass fills up
8. Garnish the drink with a sprig of fresh mint leaves for added freshness

Ingredients
- Vodka (60ml)
- Orange marmalade (20gm)
- Indian spice (5gm)
- Orange bitter (3 or 4 dashes)
- Orange juice (60ml)
- Lemon juice (15ml)
- Simple syrup (15ml)
Method
1. In a cocktail shaker, add the orange marmalade, Indian spice, orange bitters, orange juice, lemon juice and simple syrup
2. Measure 60ml of vodka and pour it into the shaker with other ingredients
3. Fill the shaker with ice cubes
4. Secure the lid tightly on the shaker and shake vigorously until all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed and chilled
5. Once the mixture is well-shaken, strain it into the prepared Hurricane glass
6. Top the cocktail with crushed ice for an extra chill and texture
7. Garnish the drink with an orange slice and an edible flower for an elegant presentation
Passion Fashion by Bombastic Supper Club
Ingredients:
- Gin (60ml)
- Lime juice (10ml)
- Passion fruit syrup (10ml)
- Orange juice (10 ml)
- Cranberry juice (10ml)
- Emulsifier (three drops)
Method
1. In a cocktail shaker combine gin, lime juice, passion fruit syrup, orange juice and cranberry juice
2. Add three drops of emulsifier to the shaker. This helps create a smooth texture and enhances the feel of the cocktail
3. Fill the shaker with ice cubes
4. Secure the lid tightly on the shaker
5. Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15 to 20 seconds to chill the ingredients and ensure proper mixing
6. Strain the cocktail into a chilled glass
