The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has restructured the entire syllabus for classes 11 and 12
Apart from this, the council has also provided a deadline for the 'Teaching-Learning' process

In a major development, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has restructured the entire syllabus for classes 11 and 12. Recently, the council had introduced the semester system and now has introduced an entirely new syllabus for both the classes.

"We will be uploading the syllabus on our website except the 13 vocational subjects. With this, the total number of subjects including Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is now 62. The syllabus was last change 11 years ago. This has been reviewed and keeping in view the changing times, the syllabus has been updated," said Chiranjib Bhattacharya, President of WBCHSE.

Apart from this, the council has also provided a deadline for the 'Teaching-Learning' process. A time of 200 hours per year has been provided for this. This includes 100 hours for the first semester and 80 hours for the second semester. Apart from this, 20 hours have been alloted for remedial classes, tutorial classes and home assignment.

From 2024-25 academic year, the council will be taking a bifurcated approach in evaluating students. The semester system will also commence from the upcoming academic year, i.e., for students who will be starting their classes in Std 11 from this year. They will be appearing in Class 12 board examinations in 2025-26 academic year.

The council will be issuing only one admit card for each student. Hence, students will be able to appear in both semester exams with a single admit card. This system will be applicable only for the theory papers. However, the practical papers of the students will be evaluated at the end of the year. Only the theory papers will have the semester system.
