The Department of Personnel and Training on Tuesday approved holding the Staff Selection Commission Multitasking (non-technical) Staff (SSC MTS) and the Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination (SSC CHSL) in 13 different regional languages, besides Hindi and English.
It must further be noted that now, the question papers for these exam will also be set in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri (also Meiti), Konkani, Hindi and English.
This particular declaration came a few days post the Ministry of Home Affairs' decision to conduct the CAPF Constable GD exam in regional languages.
The decision to conduct the SSC exams in regional languages was taken after the representations by different states, added the Ministry of Personnel.
The Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh further added that the attempts are being made to eventually incorporate all these languages listed in the Constitution's Eighth Schedule in these recruitment exams.
