SP Jain Institute of Management Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai and the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) will jointly bring leading supply chain professionals and academicians under one roof for a three-day conference to discuss the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the supply chain sector and measures that helped in managing the crisis.
The conference, themed Building Resilience in Supply Chains and Communities, will be held from December 22 to December 24. During the conference, various stakeholders will also discuss measures to make the supply chain sector robust, well-connected and more responsive. Besides, initiatives to add artificial intelligence to the process to help adapt with the changing circumstances will be discussed.
The international conference will be the first major business-academia interaction since the COVID-19 pandemic for analysing, studying and discussing how supply chains coped with pressure during the pandemic.
The conference will be chaired by Debmallya Chatterjee, head of the operations and supply chain area of SPJIMR and Subodha Kumar, a professor at Temple University, Pennsylvania.
The first day of the international conference will have a doctoral colloquium with a keynote address by popular academician and scholar, Janat Shah, dean of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Udaipur. The colloquium will also see participation of representatives from IIM Bangalore and IIM Trichy.
The colloquium will include workshops, speeches by popular international scholars and practitioners, and panel discussions by the deans of the top international business schools and leaders from the industry. There will also be paper presentations held in parallel tracks.
Apart from the doctoral colloquium, the conference will have two keynotes by Kamalini Ramdas from London Business School and Malavaika Chauhan, deputy director, design and head of Rural Upliftment portfolio at the Tata Trusts speaking on community resilience.
The panel with the deans will focus on understanding directions for business education post-pandemic. It will be based on the changing landscape of business education post COVID-19 and the preparedness of the various stakeholders. Varun Nagraj, dean SPJIMR will moderate the deans’ panel.
A workshop held for guiding the Indian researchers structure their papers for journals will also be held during the conference. It will be led by Aravind Chandrasekaran from Ohio State University.
