Azim Premji University, Bangalore, has opened admissions for the programme Postgraduate Diploma in Education – Educational Assessment.

Programme Highlights

This one-year part-time programme is a balanced blend of theory and practice in the domain of assessments. It will be offered in a blended mode, combining online and on-campus components. The programme aims to build capabilities among key stakeholders, including teachers, teacher educators, curriculum developers and other such professionals working in the area of education by providing knowledge, skills and dispositions that are necessary for planning, designing, and utilising assessments to bring about a positive shift in the culture of assessments.

The programme is designed for professionals working in education for at least two years. They could be teachers, academic coordinators, teacher educators, curriculum designers, test paper developers, textbook writers and any other NGO professionals.

What does the programme offer?

The programme will enable participants to:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of assessment concepts, principles, approaches, and their role in improving the quality of education.
  • Design valid and reliable assessment tools such as competency-based test papers, projects, portfolios, rubrics, checklists, group assessments & self-assessments.
  • Utilise assessment results to improve students' learning and overall classroom processes.
  • Design large- scale assessments specifically on interpreting data and drawing inferences about assessment quality using classical test theory and item response theory.

It is important to build the capacity of key people in education - teachers, teacher educators, education administrators, boards of examination - to improve assessment practices continuously.”
