International Dance Day observed on April 29 is a day marking rhythm on the loose and free spirits, and to make this day a memorable one, the young students at B.D.M International celebrated the day in a grand manner.
The celebrations began with greetings to everyone gathered, followed by a glorious welcome Aarti for the esteemed judges Madam Sujata Ukil and Madam Chandrani Chakraborty. As the students introduced the events that would follow, they also spoke as to how- It is popularly said that there is no other better way to express and feel yourself than dance, So dance like there is no tomorrow!
BDM International
The students participated in an Inter-house dance competition that encouraged all To follow your own rhythm and feel the beat. As the students illuminated the importance of the House-system in educational institutions, the audience was ready for some tap and swung with diverse presentations of Classical, Folk, and Creative or Modern dancing. The competition had two participants from each house performing in the above-mentioned genres. Participants were judged on four criteria, comprising ten marks each, with a total score of 40 marks, namely-
▪︎Timing ▪︎Expression ▪︎Dancing Technique ▪︎Presentation or Makeup.
The vibrant dancers at B.D.M.I also danced to the tunes of Hip-hop dancing, which is a unique and exciting style of street dance that is most commonly performed in hip-hop music. The day's celebration ended with the declaration of house points, which cheered one and all.

Practical knowledge about varied cultures and traditions is imparted to students at B.D.M.I by moving out of the traditional mindset of conventional classroom learning and engaging in activities and healthy competitions. This International Dance Day students were reminded of the fact that- Teaching & learning isn’t just limited to blackboards, textbooks & classrooms nowadays- it is far beyond this.
The engagement with the innumerable number of dancing activities organised by the school, not only enables an effective learning environment but also makes it an enjoyable experience for the students. The varied performances, competitions, and celebrations were a lesson in disguise, and involving the students in fun activities prepare them to be active and cooperative in real life too.
