Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar is all set to usher in the holiday season with Candy Cane Lane 2.0, its eagerly anticipated Winter Carnival, scheduled for Saturday, December 21, 2024. Promising a day filled with joy, creativity, and community spirit, this year’s carnival is packed with an exciting lineup of activities and attractions designed to delight attendees of all ages.
From thrilling games and live performances featuring parents and their children to DJ corners, a fashion show, tarot card readings, pottery sessions, and a wide variety of delicious treats, the event offers something for everyone. Exhibition stalls and mouth-watering savouries add to the charm, ensuring that the festive spirit lasts all day long.
More than just a celebration, Candy Cane Lane 2.0 is an initiative to bring together students, teachers, parents, and alumni to support local NGO partners. Proceeds from the carnival will contribute to philanthropic causes, reflecting the school’s commitment to giving back to the community.
Last year, the carnival hosted several NGOs, including Iswar Sankalpa, Calcutta Blind School, Speech and Hearing Institute and Research Centre, Pathchola, and Kids’ Centre. These organisations actively participated by setting up stalls and selling their products, while the attendees enthusiastically supported them. The funds raised were used to purchase utility items and stationery for NGOs like Sohomormi, Sanchar, Shishur Sevay, and Anando Mandir, which work tirelessly for the welfare of the underprivileged and differently-abled individuals.
Speaking about the impact of the initiative, Jayati Sengupta, a senior teacher, shared, "We believe that such experiences will inspire our students towards more philanthropic endeavours in the years to come."
As preparations for this year’s carnival are in full swing, the school is abuzz with activity. Students are busy making promotional reels for their products, brainstorming innovative decorations, and finalising pricing strategies. Reflecting on the success of the previous year, Principal Sonali Sarkar expressed her gratitude to the parents and alumni for their unwavering support: “This year we are expecting more than 3000 people at our school campus. Our students will once again take everyone by surprise with their aesthetic and entrepreneurial skills. I am certain that their enthusiasm and ingenuity will touch one and all. Do save the date and show your support for Candy Cane Lane 2.0: our Carnival for a Cause."
With the excitement building, Candy Cane Lane 2.0 is set to create cherished memories while making a meaningful difference, proving that the true spirit of the season lies in giving and togetherness.
