Two Bangladeshis arrested with Indian ‘tout’ at border

The arrested duo identified as Md Suleman, a resident of Dinajpur district of the neighbouring country, and Motiur Rahman, who is from Thakurganj district

The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended two Bangladeshis for illegally crossing the international border in Cooch Behar district on Monday.

An Indian, who is suspected to be a tout and helps people illegally cross the international border, has also been arrested with the duo. The arrested Bangladeshis have been identified as Md Suleman, a resident of Dinajpur district of the neighbouring country, and Motiur Rahman, who is from Thakurganj district of Bangladesh.

“The apprehended Bangladeshis were working in Pulwama of Jammu & Kashmir. They were returning to their homeland to meet their relatives. Jagadish Roy, who hails from a village in Cooch Behar district, has also been arrested. He is a tout who helps people illegally cross the international border. The trio have been handed over to police,” said a BSF source.

In another incident, a team of Belakoba forest range seized timber is worth around Rs 20 lakh from a truck at Dashdarga on NH 27 in Jalpaiguri district on Sunday night.

Two persons, both residents of Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested in this connection.
