Police arrests two persons for allegedly depositing five fake notes, in denomination of Rs 500

Manager of Pundibari branch of nationalised bank filed police complaint on June 5 alleging that Janatulla Haque, deposited some fake notes

Police on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly depositing five counterfeit notes, in denomination of Rs 500, at a nationalised bank here on June 5.

Sources said the manager of the Pundibari branch of a nationalised bank had on June 5 filed a police complaint alleging that Janatulla Haque, a resident of Sajherpar-Ghoramara, had deposited some cash at the bank, which included the counterfeit notes.

Later, the police arrested Haque and Afajuddin Miya, another local resident. A probe is on, they said.

Border arrest

The BSF apprehended two Indians while they were moving along the Bangladesh border on a bike on Tuesday evening.

“Dulal Oraon and Sushanta Sarkar, both residents of Nijtaraf village of Mekhliganj, were held with 12 bottles of liquor and had plans to smuggle those to Bangladesh. Two cell phones, some Indian currency and the bike have been seized from them,” BSF sources said.

Later, both were handed over to the police.
