Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to meet the protesting junior doctors at her Kalighat residence today at 6 pm, as tensions over the ongoing medical strike continue to simmer.

In a bid to resolve the deadlock, the state government, through an email from the Chief Secretary, has extended an invitation to a team of 15 doctors to attend the crucial meeting.

However, the West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front has insisted that 30 doctors should represent them at the talks, citing the need for broader participation.

The meeting comes after the Chief Minister’s recent outreach, which the junior doctors described as a “positive step,” though they remained tight-lipped on whether the cease-work would be called off.

“We welcome her visit, as it implies that our five-point demand is justified,” one of the junior doctors said. The group has also emphasised transparency in the discussions, calling for the meeting to be live-streamed.
