Governor CV Ananda Bose appoints full-term vice-chancellors for six universities

The order of preference of the names was decided by chief minister Mamata Banerjee

The governor on Friday appointed full-term vice-chancellors for six universities.

Nirmalya Narayan Chak-raborty has been appointed VC of Presidency University, Pabitra Kumar Chakraborti will head Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University and Amiya Kumar Panda will helm Rani Rashmoni Green University.

Kallol Paul, Rup Kumar Barman and Sankar Kumar Nath have been appointed VCs of Kalyani, Bankura and Burdwan Universities, respectively.

An official in the education department said the governor, who is the chancellor of all state-aided universities, selected the names from a panel of three candidates for each university prepared by search committees appointed by the Supreme Court.

Banerjee.

“The lists of names for 34 state-aided universities
were sent to governor C.V. Ananda Bose on November 21 for his consent. The chancellor only selected the names for six universities,” the official said.

“The other universities will continue to be run by interim VCs till the governor appoints full-term VCs.”
