Interim nod to Firhad Hakim stint

The tenure of the CMC’s elected board was to end in May and polls couldn’t be held because of the Covid-19 pandemic

Calcutta High Court issued an interim order on Monday allowing Firhad Hakim to continue as the chairman of the administrative board of Calcutta Municipal Corporation till August 10 and decided to hear the petition seeking a stay on the formation of board on August 9.

As the tenure of the CMC’s elected board was to end in May and polls couldn’t be held because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bengal government had constituted the administrative board making outgoing mayor Hakim its chairman.
