Bengal logs 272 more Covid-19 cases, 7 deaths

The recovery rate improved for 38 consecutive days to reach 98.82 per cent

Bengal on Wednesday reported 272 Covid-19 infections, which included 42 from Calcutta.

This is for 17 consecutive days that the state registered a three-digit figure of fresh cases after infections started surging on December 29 last year.

The state also recorded 1,054 recoveries and seven deaths, resulting in a drop in the total of active cases by 789 to 2,648. The positive confirmation rate is 0.85 per cent now.

Nineteen of the state’s 23 districts reported zero deaths on Wednesday. Calcutta reported one. The state’s mortality rate is 1.05 per cent.

The recovery rate improved for 38 consecutive days to reach 98.82 per cent.

The national rate is 98.42 now.
