Donald Trump, former US President and Republican presidential candidate, was speaking at a campaign rally when a bullet pierced the upper part of his right ear. A last minute head-tilt is believed to have saved Trump's life. Secret Service agents killed a 20-year-old suspected shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Spectators claim that they saw Crooks on the roof of a nearby building moments before he took the shot. Crooks did not leave a manifesto behind and he does not have a criminal history in Pennsylvania’s public court records. Those close to Crooks knew him as a "quiet young man" who was "incredible intelligent."
