Chennai Super Kings earned a much sought-after victory on Tuesday to stay in the hunt for a play-offs berth and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni couldn’t hide his happiness.

“Ultimately what really matters is getting two points. What T20s have shown is that there are a few games that don’t go your way and then there are some that do, even when you haven’t earned it,” Dhoni said after the 20-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“Today I felt we did a very good job even in batting. There was some purpose with the bat and the batsmen assessed the situation very well.

“The fast bowlers did their job, then the spinners came into play and it was one game that was as close to being perfect. It was a par score and I usually assess scores after the first six overs. If there are misfields in the first six overs then a par score becomes an under-par score,” Dhoni said.

Man of the Match Ravindra Jadeja was also happy with his efforts.

“Very happy to contribute with both bat and ball. I was backing myself and only looking to see the ball and hit it without pre-planning,” Jadeja, who made 25 not out off 10 balls, said.
