Former footballer Ranjan Chaudhuri recommended as head coach of India’s under-19 team

Former footballer Ranjan Chaudhuri has been recommended by the technical committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) as the head coach of India’s under-19 team on Wednesday. Former India player Sandip Nandy will be the goalkeeping coach.

“It’s a tough job,” Chaudhuri said on Wednesday.

Ishfaq Ahmed will be the under-16 coach while Yan Cheng Law will be his deputy. Mohammed Zakeer Hussain is the goalkeeping coach. Last year too Ahmed was the under-16 coach.

Langam Chaoba Devi is set to take over as the national women’s football coach.

Football camp

The Indian football team will have a four-week preparatory camp in Bhubaneswar starting on May 10, ahead of its crucial second-round World Cup 2026 Qualifiers against Kuwait and Qatar.

The final squad will move to the city on June 2 ahead of the clash against Kuwait at Salt Lake Stadium on June 6.

“India Sr men’s national team will have a 4-week preparatory camp in Bhubaneswar, Odisha starting 10 May, 2024,” the AIFF wrote on X on Wednesday. “The final squad will move to Kolkata on 2 June!” it added.
