Tournament-record of 1.25 million spectators turnout in stadiums during ODI World Cup

A tournament-record 1.25 million spectators were at the stadiums across the country during the ODI World Cup, the ICC announced on Tuesday.

The spectator count had surpassed the 1-million mark with six games to go in the tournament. The ICC said on Tuesday the six-and-a-half-week tournament — won by Australia for a men's record sixth time — attracted 1,250,307 spectators.

The attendance figures surpass the mark reached at the 2015 World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand, which attracted 10,16,420 spectators, and the 2019 edition in England and Wales, which had 7,52,000 fans.

The 10-team tournament in India saw each team play the others once to advance to the semi-finals. With 48 matches played overall, total average attendance was around 26,000.
