Mahendra Singh Dhoni pulled off a heist against Mumbai Indians a few days back, but couldn’t do so on Monday. Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja blamed the failure to execute their plans as the reason behind their loss to Punjab Kings.

“We started off very well, but we felt we gave away 10-15 runs extra in the end. We did not execute our plans very well,” he said.

The skipper felt they needed a better start when chasing in the Powerplay overs. He though was all praise for Ambati Rayudu’s innings.

“He (Rayudu) was batting brilliantly throughout but as I said earlier, if we could’ve restricted them to under 175 it would’ve been good. We are not getting good starts in the first six overs, that’s where we are lacking,” Jadeja said.

Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal lauded their bowlers. “I thought Arsh (Arshdeep Singh) bowled exceedingly well... he has bowled the tough overs, he has been great for us. Even (Kagiso) Rabada bowled well...

“These two have been great for us. As a team we have to think about being smart.”
