Mohammed Rizwan scored a gritty, unbeaten half-century to guide Pakistan past 200 against England before bad light at the Rose Bowl brought an early end to the second day of the second Test on Friday.

The visitors were 223/9 at close and Rizwan will return on Saturday on 6. James Anderson has the best bowling figures, with 3/48. Stuart Broad had 3/56.

England captain Joe Root was guilty of negative field settings at times, with five or six players out near the boundary.
